Synopsis:
The film follows the story of Rani Mehra, from New Delhi who embarks on her honeymoon to Paris and Amsterdam by herself after her fiancé calls off their wedding. Directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena. The film stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role, with Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao playing supporting roles
Vivek’s experience:
Queen will always be a special film, not because it went on to be a cult classic, but because of the special kind of energy that it took to make it.
A female driven film in 2012 wasn’t common but here we were, in Europe doing exactly that! This was a first- time director and because the budget was tiny, we had to reinvent how the film was to be made with a small crew to accommodate the budget.
As co-producer we decided to take a crew of about 20-25 people and what a journey it was! Shot between Paris, Amsterdam, Delhi and Mumbai, Queen was shot with a lot of heart and hard work.
While shooting the film with European actors, Kangana Ranaut played the part of Rani from Delhi to the T, by speaking only in pure (shudh) Hindi and confusing the heck out of the co-stars which added to the spontaneous humour of the film!
It was a treat to see the film capture the hearts of everyone who saw it.
